Why You Should Ponder Leadership with Me

After 20 mumble mumble years in leadership and management roles, I have learned a LOT. Friends, colleagues and former staffers frequently ask me for advice on dealing with issues in the workplace, especially with staff issues. I recently decided that it is time to share what I have learned on a wider scale. I want new, current and future leaders to take advantage of my experiences.

In each issue of Pondering Leadership, which will publish on Thursday afternoons at 4PM eastern time, I will offer my experiences with topics such as the following:

  • Human Resources - Hiring, Interviewing, Mentoring, Disciplining, Terminating, Writing Job Descriptions and much more

  • Building Management - Inspections, Maintenance, Managing Vendors

  • Branding/Marketing -Sign Audits, Logos, Design Templates

  • Networking - Professional Associations, Volunteering, Attending Conferences

  • Communication - Managing Meetings, Crafting Emails, Motivating Employees

  • Organization - Setting Up Workstations and Office spaces, Simplifying Processes

  • Working With and For Boards of Trustees - Managing Multiple Managers, Policy Writing, Putting Together a Board Packet

Why should you pay to Ponder?

Why should you subscribe to another newsletter, let alone pay for MY content? I am setting myself apart from other content creators by presenting leadership and management ideas in a positive light. I am offering proactive ideas on micro topics that you can use today. My newsletter will provide ideas to get ahead of the game with your staff, while helping you provide a positive and welcoming workplace. Leadership and management do not have to be hard and scary. Managing people does not have to be combative. I want my newsletter to be a source of helpful and forward-thinking ideas.

For paying subscribers, you will have access to view and comment on discussion threads around each issue, as well chats posted in between newsletters, including Mondays Productivity tips. I will add some additional features for paying subscribers as we go along.

Finally, here comes the Big Ask. I would love the chance to build a much needed community around solid leadership and management skills. We need more decent leaders in our organizations. If you find the content I am providing valuable, please consider becoming a monthly or yearly paid subscriber.

Ponder My Bio

After having good and bad experiences holding leadership and management roles in corporations big and small, in local government and in academia, I am only going to focus on the good times in this space. I have served on a variety of Boards of Trustees, including in the President role. Having written for online news sites covering small businesses, given presentations at local, national and international conferences, and appearing in regular radio spots to promote my organizations, I am ready to write for myself to show other leaders what kinds of processes and strategies have worked for me.

Additionally, I am a big sports fan. So, some of my content may contain sports references. I grew up an hour outside of Chicago. I went to Illinois State University for college and to the University of South Carolina for graduate school. I currently live a few miles from the USC campus. I love rooting for my Redbirds and my Gamecocks. I miss being a Chicago Sky season ticket holder. There is nothing like Chicago in the summer, especially at Wrigley Field.
